Three hundred attend Rock Creek state stimulus event

Photos and story by

On Feb. 26, the Rock Creek Campus became the only Portland site to host Go Oregon!, an outreach event to Oregon businesses to explain and facilitate the bidding process for stimulus contracts. The event at Rock Creek, organized by PCC’s MWESB Coordinator John Persen, drew more than 300 attendees from all over the tri-county area.

The session followed the Feb. 5 signing of Senate Bill 338 into law by Gov. Ted Kulongoski. This law authorized $175 million in bonding to fund infrastructure projects, including school repairs, transportation and deferred maintenance projects all over Oregon. Where to find bidding opportunities, subsequent bidding procedures, necessary qualifications, and how to get qualified were among the topics covered by various state offices that included the Governor’s Office, the Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon Procurement Information Network and the Office of Minority, Women and Emerging Small Businesses.
