Leaders in Portland’s burgeoning sustainability movement will converge with Portland Community College students, staff and community members when PCC’s Cascade Campus hosts its Earth Day 2009 on Wednesday, April 22. “Earth Day, the Human Solution: Together We Are Creating a Healthy Culture” will feature sustainability information, workshops, and presentations, along with a healthy dose of music and dancing. The event is set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the campus’ Borthwick Mall, 705 N. Killingsworth St.

The Cascade Earth Day celebration will spotlight ways in which people can integrate sustainability into their everyday lives. Attendees can learn to make container gardens, how to compost, and how to link up with innovative community resource-sharing networks around the city.

Participating organizations include sustainability networking group Bright Neighbor; innovative “talent-sharing” network Time Bank PDX; and wilderness adventurists Trackers NW, among others. Entertainment will be provided by hip hop/reggae Artist Nico Luminous, along with local DJs.
