Photos and story by James Hill
Governor Ted Kulongoski created an advisory group that met for the first time at the PCC Sylvania Campus to attract federal stimulus funds aimed at the green industry. States are competing for about $37 billion that will go toward innovations in sustainability. Kulongoski presented the group with three projects he wants to target with the grant money – including upgrading PCC’s Sylvania Campus to make its buildings meet the LEED Platinum standard.

Local TV stations also were attendees to this important hearing, held at the Sylvania Campus’ conference rooms. Kulongoski (center) was able to hear a report about how PCC was using its bond money, and possibly some federal money, to retrofit the Sylvania Campus and make it the greenest campus possible.
