Ways and Means Committee coming to Cascade Campus

Photos and story by

Senator Margaret Carter and Representative Peter Buckley, co-chairs of the Oregon Legislature’s Joint Ways & Means Committee, will lead a special traveling session of the committee from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the Moriarty Auditorium at Cascade Campus. The session, the only one of its kind scheduled for the Portland area, will allow the general public the opportunity to offer comment to and ask questions of the committee’s membership, which is comprised of legislators from all over the state.

The Joint Ways & Means Committee exercises a great deal of influence over the crafting of the state budget and the formulation of Oregon’s fiscal policy. This traveling session affords the chance to weigh in on questions that, given the current condition of Oregon’s economy, can have an enormous impact on citizens’ everyday lives.
