Some opportunities to meet your lawmakers coming up.

Photos and story by

I often recommend people go to legislative town halls. It’s just an absolutely sure-fire way to get face time with lawmakers and to talk about the issues that matter to you.

If you live in the Hillsboro area, Rep. Chuck Riley will be doing a coffee meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 16, at BJ’s Coffee Co., 2834 Pacific Ave., Forest Grove.

Sen. Diane Rosenbaum has one this coming weekend, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Cubespace, 622 SE Grand Ave., two blocks north of the Morrison Bridge, on the second floor of the US Bank building between SE Alder & SE Washington. Her district is east of the Willamette River, north of Clackamas County.

Sen. Ginny Burdick, whose district includes the Sylvania Campus, will be at that one, too.

And this one’s different: Sen. Jackie Dingfelder and Rep. Michael Dembrow will be taking a bike ride this Saturday through their north Portland districts. Starting at 9:30 a.m. at Wilshire Park, 33rd and Northeast Skidmore. Everyone’s invited to cycle along with them as they stop at Rigler School to take a tour of its community garden, check out a proposed cycle track location and Hacienda Community Development Corp., where participants can purchase tamales and learn about the MicroMercantes program.

You can RSVP.
