Dieterich Steinmetz has been chosen to be the interim division dean for Science and Engineering at the Sylvania Campus for this year. Steinmetz earned a medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in 2001 after obtaining his master’s degree from the University of Oregon in 1996.
He started his teaching career with Portland Community College as a part-time instructor in 1997, leading laboratories in anatomy and physiology. In 2002 he transitioned to a full-time teaching position, also in anatomy and physiology. Three years later he assumed department chair responsibilities for the Life Sciences at the Sylvania Campus.
He replaces John McKee who is transferring to Maui Community College.
