Photos and story by

In Honor of Martin Luther King, the Cascade Campus will host comedian and inspirational speaker Debbie Wooten from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20 in the auditorium, Moriarty Arts and Humanities Building. Wooten is an expert in overcoming adversity. She was born on the south side of Chicago with Spina Bifida and contracting polio at five months. Wooten entered a world of poverty, racism, abuse and family suicide, but she used humor to battle the issues in her life. She raised 5 children alone and has many stories to tell about all these experiences. Come and hear this remarkable woman. Sponsored by ASPCC and Multicultural Awareness Council.
