During the blessing ceremony, local Native American dancers paid their respects at the 2010 PCC Winter Powwow, held at Portland Community College's Sylvania Campus (12000 S.W. 49th Ave.). The event attracted more than a 1,000 visitors during the all-day festivities.
Dozens of drum groups performed as the dancers rhythmically danced during the big grand entry. The Winter Powwow has garnered numerous grants through the years that help fund the event and help with scholarships for Native American students.
Dancers from around the Northwest entered the gymnasium at the Sylvania Campus to the pulse of beating drums. This was the first of two grand entries during the day.
