Rock Creek’s Helzer Art Gallery shows off ‘Transportraits’

The Helzer Art Gallery (Room 122, Building 3) at the Rock Creek Campus will host Portland photographer Lorenzo Triburgo’s “Transportraits 2008-2010” exhibit from Feb. 8 to March 13. Triburgo’s newest body of work, “Transportraits 2008-2010,” is a series of 15 formal studio portraits of transgendered men, each one set against a hand painted landscape background.
Triburgo is a transgendered man who was born and raised in New York, graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York with an master’s degree in fine arts and recently moved to Portland. He works in digital photography and mixed media and his photography exhibits.
An opening reception will be held at the gallery from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12. Triburgo will also give a talk at the Teaching and Learning Center in Building 3 of the Rock Creek Campus on Tuesday, February 23 at 1pm with a 2pm reception to follow.
The gallery’s hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. For further information, call (503) 614-7118.
The exhibit and receptions are sponsored by the Associated Students of PCC (student government), the PCC Rock Creek Multicultural Center, and the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA), a year-old, highly active student club at Rock Creek.
