Fulbright lecturer from China plans PCC visits

An acclaimed Chinese lecturer and Fulbright Scholar is visiting Portland Community College in April to discuss the topic “Sino-U.S. Relations in Competition and Cooperation.”

Hao Tang, Fulbright Scholar in Residence at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., will explore the benefits and issues surrounding cooperation and competition between the United States and China. This event is free and open to the public. His visits include: 9:30 a.m., Monday, April 19, Room 101, ST Building, Sylvania Campus (12000 S.W. 49th Ave.); noon, Tuesday, April 20, Room 104, Moriarty Arts and Humanities Building, Cascade Campus (705 N. Killingworth St.); and 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, The Forum, Building 3, Rock Creek Campus (17705 N.W. Springville Road).

“I am still passionate in my job,” Tang said. “I like to share my knowledge and experiences with my students and use various teaching methods, such as group discussion and debates. I have good academic knowledge about Chinese politics and economy with the international vision.”

Tang has a master’s degree of Political Science at China’s Northeast Normal University in 1998 and earned a doctorate in International Relations from Jinan University in 2007. Before his Fulbright work, he was an associate professor at South China Normal University. In addition, he continues as a columnist for the South China City Daily – the most popular newspaper in South China – and Time Weekly, which is in Beijing.
