Popular Cascade Job Fair set for April 27

Photos and story by

With enrollment up nearly 20 percent this spring, many people are using Portland Community College to retrain or get a degree and at the end of April – find that perfect job.

Portland Community College will host the 13th Annual Cascade Job Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, at the Cascade Campus Gymnasium, 705 N. Killingsworth St. Sponsored by Comcast, OregonLive, Hoffman Construction and Pacific Coast Fruit Co., the job fair will have a wide variety of employers with which the community can connect. Plus, the fair is perfect for students as nearly all of PCC’s 80 professional technical programs can find at least one employer related to their degree or certificate.

The Cascade Job Fair, which had 50 employers and more than 1,900 job seekers last year, is a community event. Job-seekers are mostly between the ages of 23 and 34 and are almost 18 percent African American. Out of the attendees surveyed last year, 75 percent said they were unemployed, making the job fair a worthwhile annual event.
