Here is a look at some of the news stories about PCC from around the local area and the nation in March. In total, PCC events and people appeared 68 times in the local community or national online media, newspapers or TV/radio. This is an increase of 48 percent from the same time period a year ago.

March 3, Rock Creek NASA scholar Damani Proctor was featured in the Gresham Outlook and the Portland Observer.

March 4, The Lake Oswego Review spotlighted Preston Pulliams’ CASE Leadership Award.

March 4, the PCC play “The Misanthrope” was featured by the Lake Oswego Review.

March 8, Community College Times, The Hillsboro Argus and The Chronicle of Higher Education announced the death of PCC founding president Amo DeBernardis.

March 11, Preston Pulliams was profiled in the Beaverton Valley Times’ supplement publication “Portrait: Extraordinary People,” highlighting his job and love of photography.

March 11, the new robotics option in Electronic Engineering technology received mention in the Lake Oswego Review and Newberg Graphic.

March 16, The Hillsboro Argus and The Oregonian featured the new retrofitted lab in Building 5 that was built with bond funds.

March 23, the Rock Creek Child Care Center accreditation news made it into the Hillsboro Argus.

March 25, The Oregonian’s story on legislation that would take out banks from the federal student loan business featured quotes from Dana Haynes on PCC’s benefit.

March 26, The Oregonian highlighted Willow Creek’s LEED platinum certification.

March 22, the Community College Week featured PCC student Matthew Keeslar, who won the paper’s essay contest on how PCC turned his life around after dropping out of the Juilliard School of Drama.

March 24, the Portland Observer showcased the history and aim of the Illumination Project through the student actors’ eyes.

March 30, the Daily Journal of Commerce highlighted PCC’s request on contractor bids to be more energy-efficient conscious.
