Automotive Repair taking vehicles for fixing

Photos and story by

The Automotive Service and Repair Department is putting together a list of available cars that need some auto repairs. The program is looking for cars that need minor electrical work, brakes, clutches, axle boots and tune-ups. Please read the Customer Information below before responding. The car needs to be 10 years and newer and you must be able to leave it for a week.

The Automotive Service Technology Department will do some customer auto repair and is dependent on what classes are in session, and instructor approval.  The Automotive Service Technology Department does not do any major mechanical repairs, such as engine rebuilds, head gaskets, transmission rebuilds or project cars.

The reason this department takes in “outside” work is to provide real service and repair situations for its students to practice recently learned skills under instructor supervision. No labor charge for the auto repair except you must pay the cost for parts that the Automotive Service department orders along with a 10 percent charge up to $15.

The instructors do not rush students through their work and cannot guarantee a finish date. Most jobs will take at least three days and could take up to a couple of weeks. You must have alternate transportation.
