Bond Dollars at Work: Sylvania Campus

Photos and story by

Bids are out for the creation of a campus-wide water efficiency system for Sylvania Campus’ 900,000 square feet of building space. The PCC Bond Program Manager estimates the work will cost nearly $2 million. Once complete, the college will start on two other projects: a $19 million renovation of the 200,000-square-foot College Center and construction of a 10,000-square-foot Child Development Center.
Howard S. Wright Construction is the general contractor on the College Center renovation, and subcontracting work and the other project will be out to bid in early 2011.

Also underway are campus heat plant upgrades with high efficiency boilers, improving controls within the buildings. Later this year we will install a dehumidification unit in the Health Technology building which will result in 20 percent energy savings for the entire campus.
