Photos and story by

Chris Dudley, the Republican candidate for governor Oregon, toured Portland Community College’s Cascade campus on Monday, seeking information on workforce development programs.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Dudley, left, tours workforce development programs at PCC’s Cascade Campus on Monday, Oct. 4. Ed Lindsey of the Fire Protection Technology Program, and Kal Robertson, director of Emergency Services Program, discuss the public safety program.

The tour came almost exactly one month before the Nov. 2 election.

Cascade classrooms on the tour included a quick-response program in heating, ventilating and air conditioning, in which students gain the training and certification they need in just one term in order to seek employment. When asked, the majority of students in the program said they were unemployed.

The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 12. A link to the Secretary of State’s website and the online registration form is on the PCC home page, www.pcc.edu.
