Panel to explore ‘Peace in the 21st Century’

There will be a panel discussion on Peace and Conflict Studies, careers in this field and how to build support for it at the college and beyond. A team from PCC was one of 19 chosen from around the world to participate in this year’s Summer Institute hosted by the Kroc Institute of International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Hear from the trio who attended in a panel moderated by political science instructor Michael Sonnleitner, program chair of PCC’s Peace and Conflict Studies program.
The discussion “Teaching Peace in the 21st Century,” will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22 (Sylvania TLC lounge) and Tuesday, Nov. 23 (Rock Creek TLC lounge).
The panel includes: Tom Hastings, Sylvania political science instructor in peace and conflict resolution instructor, will discuss employment opportunities for the Peace Studies professional; Marlene Eid, psychology instructor at Rock Creek, will cover the relevance of liberal arts on the field of peace studies; and Kate Chester, Community Relations Manager for the Sylvania Campus, will talk about the communications part with regards to the classroom and on the campus.
