Donate to Thanksgiving basket drive for needy students

Photos and story by

Each year Cascade ASPCC and Phi Theta Kappa give Thanksgiving baskets to more than 50 student families. The goal is to make the Holiday a happy, stress free time for those students who might find it a financial burden.

Students in need have until Wednesday, Nov. 17 to apply for a Thanksgiving basket. If you know of a student who would benefit from this service, please encourage them to apply. Students are selected using a lottery system so everyone has an equal opportunity.

Last year many of students, staff and faculty  donated cash that went to purchase 56 Thanksgiving baskets for Cascade students. ASPCC will be asking departments to contribute again. Its Community Service Team, coordinated by Cate Jinings from Phi Theta Kappa, has  provided letters and donation cans to each division or department on campus.  You can donate in person by stopping by the student government office in Room 03 in the Student Center on the Cascade Campus, or call (971) 722-5188. Receipts are available for tax purposes.

Families are selected by lottery and will be notified by Monday, Nov. 15.
