Photos and story by Gina Whitehill-Baziuk
Twenty stakeholders from the Humboldt neighborhood, local businesses and organizations, and PCC Cascade Campus participated in the second meeting of the Bond Advisory Committee on December 9, 2010, at Humboldt Gardens. The committee is helping PCC with master planning for Cascade Campus as part of the bond approved by voters in 2008.
Community members serving on the committee include several residents from Humboldt and Piedmont neighborhoods, as well as business owners of Coffeehouse5, McMenamins, Asian Reporter and Royce’s Prop Shop. Local organizations are also represented: Rosemary Anderson High School, Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon, REACH Community Development Corporation, the Center for Intercultural Organizing, North Portland Library and Emmanuel Temple.
People who live or work in the community surrounding PCC Cascade are welcome to attend committee meetings. Members of the public will have an opportunity to speak directly to the committee and PCC staff at the beginning of every meeting. The next two Cascade Bond Advisory Committee meetings will be on January 20 and January 27 at Humboldt Gardens, 5033 N. Vancouver. Meetings are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
