Get to know PCC’s new online learning system!
Photos and story by James Hill
Almost 10,000 PCC students enroll in distance learning classes each term. To make those learning experiences better, PCC Distance Education has recently adopted a new learning management system called Desire2Learn. It will replace the WebCT/Blackboard system the college has been using since 1998.
“We selected Desire2Learn because it supports a variety of new features to enhance teaching and learning,” said John Sneed, director of distance education.
Some of the new features include:
- An attractive new interface.
- Full integration with the registration system (so students will be added and dropped as they submit their drop/add forms online).
- Web conferencing in Elluminate so students and instructors can meet face to face.
All students who enroll in online classes will need to learn the new system. Students can watch online orientation and videos to learn more. The student help desk is also available seven days a week to answer questions.
