PCC to celebrate ‘Year of the Rabbit’

Portland Community College’s Southeast Center will celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with music, entertainment, food, vendors, door prizes and much more.

There will be plenty of arts and crafts at this year's Asian New Year Celebration at the Southeast Center Monday, Feb. 21.

The Southeast Center staff, faculty and students welcome the public to the annual Asian New Year Celebration at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 21, Legin Banquet Hall (8001 S.E. Division St.). Admission and parking are free. The event is perfect for children as it features a lion dance, other Asian dances, demonstrations on how to use chopsticks, paper lantern cutting, games and other activities. In addition, there will be various arts and crafts, and food on sale for $1.

A PCC Bond Visioning Workshop will follow at 1:30 p.m. and the public is welcomed to attend.

Leading up to the event will be an Asian Culture Week hosted at the Southeast Center (2305 S.E. 82nd Ave.) in the Great Hall from Feb. 14-17. The Asian Culture Week includes two Asian movie days (noon, Monday, Feb. 14 and 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17) and two days of the Vendors Bazaar (Tuesday, Feb. 15 and Wednesday, Feb. 16).
