Here is a look at some of the news stories about PCC from around the local area and the nation in December. In total, PCC events and people appeared 31 times in the local community or national online media, newspapers or TV/radio.
December, the Boom! Magazine for seniors profiled the 20th anniversary of the Senior Studies Institute.
Dec. 1 (via Nov. 18), The Lake Oswego Review and OregonLive reported on PCC’s 50th Anniversary activities and planning.
Dec. 2, Kelly House of The Oregonian wrote about Rock Creek’s Option C plans for academic programs.
Dec. 2, The Beaverton Valley Times showcased the story of Diesel Tech student Brandon Place who changed careers at PCC due to the downturn in the economy.
Dec. 8, The Portland Observer featured the migrant worker/GED grant in its “El Observador” issue.
Dec. 13, Community College Week announced PCC’s $2.24 million grant by the Dept. of Education to help migrant farm workers get their GED and transition to college.
Dec. 16, Business Wire reported that SolarWorld has hired 1,000 local workers, many of them from PCC.
Dec. 17, Preston Pulliams and Harold Williams made the cover of the Business Journal, pictured listening to Governor-elect John Kitzhaber talking at the Oregon Business Plan’s Leadership Summit.
