Photos and story by

PORTLAND, Ore. (March 16, 2011) – A candlelight vigil and fundraiser for the victims of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami is being organized by PCC student Mana Morimoto.

The event is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Pioneer Courthouse Square, between Broadway and Sixth Avenues and between Yamhill and Morrison Streets.

The event formerly had been set for Director’s Square but has been moved.

More information can be found at the organizer’s website. A donation page, which links to the Mercy Corps site, can be found on that page.

The event will include performances by a Japanese taicho drum corps and the Takohachi dance troupe.

Morimoto studies at PCC’s Sylvania Campus.
