Blog: Politics comes to Willow Creek

Photos and story by

If you happen to be at Portland Community College’s Willow Creek Center this morning (Monday, April 18), you might find some media on hand.

That’s because Brad Avakian, Oregon commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries, will be there for a 10 a.m. campaign and press event, set for Room 211, Willow Creek, 241 Edgeway Drive, Hillsboro.

The commissioner is one of only eight people elected statewide in Oregon (can you name the other seven?).

Avakian sent an e-mail to supporters this weekend that reads, in part, “I’ll be sharing my thoughts about the challenges facing our country, our state, and our region – and what I intend to do, with your help, to meet those challenges.”

Stay tuned for more details as they become known.

(Statewide races: two U.S. senators, governor, attorney general, secretary of state, treasurer, superintendent of public instruction and of course, commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries.)
