Three North Portland lawmakers were on hand Saturday morning (April 23) at Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus for a town hall discussion.

Sen. Chip Shields, left, and Rep. Tina Kotek speak to a constituent, as Rep. Lew Frederick discusses issues with Cascade President Algie Gatewood, right.

State Sen. Chip Shields, plus State Reps. Tina Kotek and Lew Frederick, took questions from members of the audience. An estimated 65 people attended the event, held in the Moriarty Auditorium, 705 N. Killingsworth St.

“You are invited to come hear about the work we’re doing in Salem and share your ideas and opinions,” Kotek said. She is the co-speaker pro tem of the House this session. She also sits on Health Care Transformation Committee as well as the budget-writing Ways and Means Committee.

Frederick, in his freshman year at the Legislature, serves as co-vice chairman for both the House Education Committee and the House Human Services Committee. He also is a member of the Legislative Audits and Information Management and Technology Committee.

In the Senate chamber, Shields serves on committees for Education and Workforce Development; General Government; Consumer and Small Business Protection; Health Care Transformation; Health Care; Human Services; Rural Health Policy; and Legislative Audits and Information Management and Technology.
