Blog: Good budget primer tonight

Photos and story by

Do you want to know how the budget of the state of Oregon operates?

I used to work as a journalist covering the Capitol, and I’ve never found a better primer on the budget than the one given by Rep. Peter Buckley, Ashland. He is co-chairman of the all-important, budget-writing Ways & Means Committee. He also is a longtime thespian and brings a combination of budgetary know-how and theatricality to his talks.

Buckley will be speaking at 7 p.m. tonight (Monday, May 2) at Beaverton City Hall, 4755 S.W. Griffith Drive.

The event is a town hall hosted by Westside lawmakers, including Sen. Suzanne Bonamici and Reps. Tobias Read, Mitch Greenlick, Chris Harker and Margaret Doherty.

If you want to ask these legislators some questions, tonight would be a perfect opportunity. And if you’re looking for an insightful budget analysis that’s easy to understand, don’t miss this event.
