Photos and story by

State Rep. Katie Eyre Brewer of Hillsboro and Rep. Julie Parrish of West Linn are co-hosts for the fourth Ladies at the Legislature Workshop on Friday, May 27.

The event is a monthly workshop for women at the Oregon State Capitol. The goal is to engage and educate women about Oregon government.

Gov. John Kitzhaber will be the guest speaker.

Due to limited space, participants need to RSVP, either to Rep. Brewer at rep.katieeyrebrewer@state.or.us or Rep. Parrish at rep.julieparrish@state.or.us.

The workshop is held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, May 27, at the Capitol, 900 State St., Salem. Women from high-school age and older are invited to experience the legislative process. The invitation is limited neither to district residence nor party affiliation.

The first hour will include attending a floor session of the House of Representatives, going on a Capitol tour or other legislative activities. For the second hour, participants are invited to bring their own lunch or can buy one in the cafeteria, and will share in conversation with the representatives and the governor.

Attendees should plan to meet in Room 350. More information about parking or directions to the Capitol.
