Memorial service planned for Roy Lindsay

Photos and story by

A memorial service for a key figure in Portland Community College’s history, Roy L. Lindsay, welcomes any staff or faculty who wish to pay their respects.

The Lindsay family is planning a Songfest to commemorate the life of Roy Lindsay. They will gather at 1 p.m., June 11 at the Tigard United Methodist Church (9845 Southwest Walnut Court). The family is requesting no flowers, but donations of food for the local food pantry.

Lindsay was generally referred to as founding President Amo DeBernardis’ right hand man. Lindsay was the man who wore a thousand administrative hats during his 22 years with the college before retiring in 1989 as Vice President for Administrative Services. Lindsay, along with other founding staff and board members, was a key man in the battle for the Rock Creek Campus.
