For ‘commuter college,’ Rose Festival is a bridge too far
Photos and story by Dana Haynes
Students and faculty who regularly commute between PCC campuses are warned that bridges across the Willamette River will be raised today (Wednesday, June 8) and Thursday to make way for the Rose Festival Fleet.
TriMet announces that bus and light rail routes will be affected as well.
The Oregonian reports that, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. today, the Broadway, Burnside, Morrison and Steel bridges will be lifted to allow passage of vessels representing the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, and the Canadian Maritime Forces.
The military ships dock at Tom McCall Waterfront Park annually for the Rose Festival.
TriMet is warning that commuter lines will be affected. More information is available on the TriMet website.
