Construction moves forward on bond improvements at Sylvania Campus
Photos and story by Gina Whitehill-Baziuk
PCC’s Sylvania Campus’s Health Technology Building is rapidly changing with E6 (energy-efficiency and reduced water usage) construction projects underway on the south side of the facility. Under the guidance of general contractor Howard S. Wright, crews are installing a retaining wall around the new dehumidification units at the Health Technology Building.
Work on Sylvania’s G Street is taking place right next to the other energy efficient projects. The project is scheduled to be finished by the end of August. The completion of G Street will improve access to and from the campus for emergency vehicles, as well as evacuation from campus in emergency situations. The next energy-saving project scheduled this month is the modification of the Heating Hot Water loop, which will make the current system more efficient and reduce energy costs to the college.
Will everyone be able to drive on the new G Street, or only emergency vehicles?
Good afternoon Michael,
Thank you for writing.
Everyone will be able to drive on G. Street. The completion of G Street is key to evacuating the campus and providing better access by emergency vehicles. The elimination of the dead end will also help reduce the campus carbon foot print and improve overall circulation.
