Events planned for campus and neighbors to review plan options for Cascade
Photos and story by Gina Whitehill-Baziuk
PCC and community members have been working collaboratively over the last year to identify Cascade campus site plan options that would support both the College’s academic mission and better integration with North Killingsworth’s business corridor and the surrounding neighborhoods. After considering input from both campus and community stakeholders, PCC narrowed 12 options down to two in June. This summer, the PCC Bond Project Team has been thoroughly evaluating the feasibility of these two options, considering issues such as, construction phasing, temporary uses, N. Killingsworth street activation, academic programming space needs, delivery and access issues.
This October, the Project Team will present its findings to Cascade Campus and neighborhood and business community members. Thanks to local businesses and Cascade Campus, PCC will host six events in the community and on campus to share their findings and discuss opportunities and challenges for the two options. PCC is scheduled to select a final option in early November, and will then begin the design phase of planning.
The six events will be hosted on different days and at different hours to accommodate campus and community members schedules. Event sites and schedule:
- Coffeehouse 5, October 11, 9-11 am
- Cascade Quad, October 11, 11 am-3 pm
