Road work to affect main street to Rock Creek Campus

Photos and story by

According to the Washington County Land Use and Transportation Department, a project on 185th Avenue and West Union Road near Westview High School will cause delays to traffic headed and leaving the Rock Creek Campus this fall term. The public should expect minor delays between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. As alternatives, students, staff and visitors can use the Bethany or Cornelius Pass Road exits off of Highway 26 and utilize West Union or Springville roads, respectively.

The contractor will continue to construct road widening improvements along the east side of 185th and culvert improvements on the east and west side of 185th at Bethany Lake. Sidewalks on the east side of 185th will be closed during day time work, but pedestrian access will be provided on the west side of 185th. Pedestrians are advised to use the signal at Westview High School and West Union to cross 185th. Sidewalks on the east side of 185th and the in-water work at Bethany Lake are scheduled to be complete by the beginning of October. Access to the Bethany Lake Park parking lot will remain open during construction.

This road improvement is targeted to be finished by July 2012.

For alternative transportation ideas like the PCC Shuttle, bicycling or the New Ride Share Program, visit the PCC Parking and Transportation webpage.

The Ride Share Program encourages students who would normally drive separately to ride to campus together.
