‘50 Festive Years of Winter Wonderland’ coming to Sylvania Campus on Dec. 14
Photos and story by Kate Chester
With Halloween and Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, Sylvania Campus is already planning its annual Winter Fest celebration, whose theme this year is “50 Festive Years of Winter Wonderland.”
The event will take place from 12:30-2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14, in the cafeteria. As in past years, proceeds from the event will benefit Neighborhood House, a locally-based non-profit agency dedicated to feeding the hungry, housing the homeless and educating the young and old. It partners with the Oregon Food Bank to provide emergency food boxes for individuals and families in need who reside in Southwest Portland.
Raffle tickets can be purchased on site for $1 to win a variety of door prizes, as well as festive, themed baskets created by Sylvania departments and divisions on a volunteer basis. Additionally, attendees to the celebration are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation for Neighborhood House’s food pantry, for which they are given a complimentary raffle ticket upon entry.
Donations to benefit Neighborhood House – monetary and non-perishable food – also are accepted on site.
