‘Remembrances’ show off artist’s ‘en plein air’ approach

Photos and story by

Now on display inside the Helzer Art Gallery at the Rock Creek Campus is Phyllis Trowbridge’s “Remembrances.”

This show, which runs until Nov. 23, brings together a rich sampling of Trowbridge’s recent works – all have been made in Oregon within the last two years. What’s interesting is that she works en plein air—painting out of doors, on site—and her compositions, in watercolor, charcoal, and oil, capture the beauty and nuances of light, atmosphere, texture, and space.

The Helzer Art Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays. The gallery is located in the Building 3 Mall.
