Landscape Technology students help replant Vernonia school
Story and Photos by Janis Nichols.
Forget that the mud was three feet deep and the early morning sky threatened hail and torrential showers. Approximately 40 landscape technology students from the Rock Creek Campus visited the new Vernonia K-12 school’s muddy construction site to plant shrubs and move dirt.
That’s what two floods in 11 years bring to town – people who just want to help. The school will open this fall and among other things, PCC Landscape Technology students selected plants and shrubs planted hem around the school.
Sarah Lowles (middle left) and Jennifer Harrison (far right) designed the landscape project. Here, they are pictured with Rock Creek Campus President David Rule and State Senator Betsy Johnson.
