Photos and story by

The Gerontology Program at he Sylvania Campus is kicking off spring term with a panel – “Finding YOUR Career in Aging” – that also helps to celebrate National Careers in Aging Week, set for the week of April 2.

“We’re targeting this event to students in health services and nursing, as well as gerontology,” said gerontology instructor Ann McQueen. “That said, any student – or faculty or staff – with even the slightest interest in working with older adults is encouraged to attend.”

“Finding YOUR Career in Aging” will take place from 5-7 p.m., Monday, April 2, Oak/Fir/Elm rooms, CC Building. The panel discussion will feature representatives from the following agencies who can answer career questions, address areas of growth, and identify the types of positions most likely to be available in the future:

  • Oregon Health Care Association.
  • Multnomah County Social Services.
  • Oregon Health & Science University’s Hartford Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence.
  • LeadingAge Oregon (formerly known as the Oregon Alliance for Senior and Health Services).
  • Oregon Department of Health and Human Services.

After the discussion, panel participants will be available to informally network with attendees over refreshments.
