Kids learn about solar power at Rock Creek Campus

Photos and story by

As part of National Take Your Kids to Work Day, PCC hosted and gave a tour of its new 35,000 square foot solar array at PCC Rock Creek Campus to the children and grandchildren of employees of Washington County’s Department of Land Use &  Transportation.  The solar array, funded by a bond approved by voters in 2008, was installed this winter in an open field south and west of Building 9.  It went into operation this spring.

As to be expected, the kids asked intriguing questions about the outdoor facility; the best question of the day: “How do you cut the grass under the array?”

Answer: The sheep are in charge of mowing.
