Photos and story by

All are invited to this PCC community-wide event to commemorate the victims of last year’s devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The commemoration is Tuesday, April 10 in the upper mall of the CC Building, Sylvania Campus. Student presentations – Japanese music, poetry, and posters – will take place from 10:45 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

Incense offerings for the victims, according to Buddhist tradition, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Lobby. A local Buddhist monk will offer prayers at noon, which will be followed by a cultural presentation and question-and-answer with attendees until 12:45 p.m.

College faculty, staff and students are welcome to this free event, which includes food and refreshments. For more information, contact Japanese instructor Takako Yamaguchi at tyamaguc@pcc.edu.
