Southeast/Extended Learning Center president candidates coming to PCC

Portland Community College has selected two finalists for the position of president of the Southeast Center and Extended Learning Campus, located on 82nd Avenue and Division Street.

The candidates are:

Jessica Howard – She is currently Vice President of Academic Affairs for San Antonio College in San Antonio, Texas. Howard is a graduate of Rice University (bachelor’s degree in English and Music, and a master’s degree in Music) and New York University (doctorate in Performance Studies). She will spend Wednesday, May 23, with the PCC community.

John Means – He is currently Associate Chancellor, Economic and Workforce Development, for Kern Community College District in Bakersfield, Calif. Means is a graduate of Taft College (associate’s degree in Liberal Arts), California State University, Long Beach (bachelor’s degree in Sociology), and California State University, Bakersfield (master’s degree in Clinical Psychology). He will spend Thursday, May 24, with the PCC community.

On the days listed, opportunities for the community, faculty, staff and students to meet and learn about each finalist will be:

  • Forum, 1 p.m., Southeast Center (Great Hall).
  • Forum, 2:30 p.m., CLIMB Center (Room 102).
  • Reception – 4 p.m., CLIMB Center, Second Floor Lobby.

The president of the Southeast Center and Extended Learning Campus oversees college transfer, developmental education, career technical education programs, and non-credit continuing education and community education courses. In addition, the position leads the professional training for businesses and alternative high school programs.
