Veterans Appreciation Week kicks off to honor, help local heros

Veterans Appreciation Week kicks off at Rock Creek and Cascade campuses. The following is a schedule of events and activities associated with this week.

Cascade Campus

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15 – Veterans’ birthday celebrations sponsored by the campus Veterans Resource Center and the Student Veterans Association. Come to the campus Student Center and enjoy free cake, coffee, and develop some connections.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday May 17 – Veterans BBQ Fundraiser sponsored by the U.S. Army, Veterans Resource Center and the Student Veterans Association.  BBQ qill be in the Borthwick Mall near the dining hall patio. There will be a rock wall, video games, $2 burgers and free soda. Proceeds go to the Veterans Relief Fund, which benefits a large number of veterans attending the Cascade Campus that are in need with school related expenses.

Rock Creek Campus

2-3 p.m., Monday, May 14 – Veterans Transfer Fair in Room 258, Building 2.

Noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 15 – Panel Discussion: “The Multiple Identities of a Veteran,” in Room 128, Building 2.

12:30-2:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15 & 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 16 – Cards for Vets (Sponsored by ASPCC), Student Center, Building 3.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 16 – Veterans Job & Resource Fair, Building 2 Mall.

6 p.m., Saturday, May 19 – Veteran’s Ball at University Place Hotel, Downtown Portland. (Tickets Required. They are available at any PCC Veterans Resource Center.).
