People’s Choice Awards announced at North View Gallery
Photos and story by James Hill
The North View Gallery is announced the Jim Hicks People’s Choice Award winner for the 2012 Student Art Exhibition. The award, a $200 cash prize, goes to Taj Bourgois for his painting, “The Gatekeeper.” Taj and Erin Marshall were also offered $2,000 scholarships to Marylhurst University by Paul Sutinen, Marylhurst Art Department Chair.
Finalists (other top vote-getters) for the People’s Choice Award include:
Kim Ferris, “Family” and “Missing Him.”
Henee von Bothemer, “Untitled” (lizard watercolor).
Julian Boyer, “Angel of Death in High Fashion.”
James Gonka, “Lost.”
Sue Circone, “Aqueous Minutea.”
Kate Kristiansen, “St. Marjorie of the Goldfish.”
Amy Maja Wilson, “Arrival Gate.”
Erin Marshall, “Arcade.”
I wanted to take the time to say that the art pieces contributed by Dawning McGinnis were outstanding and I would have liked to see that name on the list of finalists and considered for an award.
