During the last board meeting, the Financial Services department was given the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the June 30, 2011 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“This was the twentieth consecutive year that the college has received the coveted award. To receive such an honor for 20 consecutive years is a testament to the support of the Board and upper management, and to the due diligence and excellence to which the finance department adheres to daily in ensuring fiscal responsibility for our college, board, and taxpayers,” said Jim Langstraat, Associate VP of Finance.
The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program (CAFR Program) in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.
Finanical Reporting Program it is excellet in accounting, that is why I love accounting which I did in my country when I worked as accountant years ago.
Congratulation to PCC for such honor and for its liders. I am proud to study, and some day I will try to follow those examples.
Congratulations! Quite an accomplishment.
