Bike Program taking applications for rentals of refurbished cycles

Students at the Cascade Campus can rent refurbished bikes from ASPCC for $15 per term. Applications are available in Room 03, Student Center Building and at the information booth inside the Student Center Building.

“Bikes come with fenders, helmets, bells, locks and lights,” said Cascade Student Leadership Coordinator Kendi Esary. “These bikes are awesome!”

The Cascade Campus is known for its high bike ridership numbers. The Bike Rental Program feeds into the desire by students to ride to class.

The ASPCC Cascade Bike Program launched in January to increase access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable transportation. Through the integration of long-term bicycle loans, education, and recreation, the Cascade Bike Program will enhance the physical and cultural development of students. As a resource for alternative transportation, the program will minimize the campus and community environmental impact.

“We are here to help connect PCC Cascade students to bicycles,” Esary added. “We can loan students a commute-ready bike for a term, or consecutive terms. Our student mechanics will help students learn to fix your own bike in free, DIY workshops. We also provide awesome volunteer opportunities.”

The Bike Program is administered through ASPCC Cascade. The project is part of PCC’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its impact on the environment, Esary added.

Bikes may be checked out for the duration of one or a maximum of three consecutive terms. A usage fee of $15 per term will be due at the time of the contract and check out. To take part, students must be taking at least six credits at Cascade and are in good standing with the college to qualify. The Bike Program requires students to maintain academic eligibility and requires students to submit a copy of their academic plan made with a PCC adviser.
