Legin Chinese restaurant to close in two weeks – OregonLive.com
Photos and story by Gina Whitehill-Baziuk
Legin, the once-great Chinese restaurant and center for Chinese-American cultural events, will close in two weeks.
Legin’s end was preordained when the property was bought by Portland Community College more than two years ago. Still, as the college continues the planned expansion of its Southeast Center campus, the restaurant’s closure represents the loss of not just another spot to get shumai or roasted duck, but also of Legin’s large events hall, home to concerts, weddings and critical meetings discussing the future of Portland’s old Chinatown.
