Simonds is currently the division dean of Liberal Arts & Sciences at PCC’s Southeast Center, where he has served since 2010, and also served as division dean for Student Support Services at Sylvania Campus from 2005-2010. Prior to joining the college he worked as an administrator for Capital Community College in Hartford, Conn. He also taught developmental English, composition, and creative writing at Capital Community College and the University of Pittsburgh.

“(He) was chosen from an extraordinarily strong pool of candidates, and he will no doubt serve with distinction in his new post,” said Algie Gatewood, president of the Cascade Campus. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part in the selection process. The feedback submitted from the candidate forums was particularly helpful, and played a critical role in the selection process.”

Simonds, who replaces the retiring Scott Huff, earned a bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature from Harvard University; a master’s degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh; and has completed additional graduate studies in English composition and rhetoric at the University of Connecticut.
