PCC-Sylvania hosts humorous Japanese Rakugo performance
Photos and story by James Hill
PCC is hosting Matt Shores’ “Rakugo Performance” from 1-2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, Little Theatre, Sylvania Campus. Rakugo (“fallen words”) is a Japanese verbal entertainment. The lone storyteller, using only a paper fan and a small cloth as props, and without standing up from the (seiza) sitting position, depicts a comical story. The story always involves the dialogue of two or more characters, the difference between the characters depicted only through change in pitch, tone, and a slight turn of the head. A reception will follow Matt’s performance in the PAC Lobby.
