TriMet unveiled its new diesel-electric hybrid buses with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Cascade on Jan. 30. The new buses will run on the No. 72 line, which services both the Cascade and Southeast campuses, and is one of TriMet’s most-used routes. Pictured from left are TriMet board member Dr. T. Allen Bethel, Cascade Campus President Algie Gatewood, Latino Network Executive Director Carmen Rubio, Multnomah County Commissioner Loretta Smith, and TriMet General Manager Neil McFarlane.

That is a very good step in the right direction. I hope the A pillars of the bus are stronger than they look. I wonder what warranty Tri-met will get from the manufacture. The highest I’ve seen are 10 year 150,000 miles warranties on hybrid/electric vehicles in California-emissions equivalent states, which Oregon I believe is one.

Bravado! I mostly love the new shoe smell as I enter these, what I like to call, space shuttles, and now that I know they are hybrid-oriented, I can surely ride with ease. Thank you Trimet and PCC!
