Now that the new underground garage has concrete walls and a roof in place, Hoffman Construction is moving to construct the ramp into the garage so PCC students, staff and faculty can start using it sometime this fall.

At the same time, Hoffman is raising the walls for the new academic building along N. Albina Avenue.  The academic building is one of two buildings that will eventually sit above the new 210-space garage. The building will open for classes in fall 2014.

Construction site at Cascade

Now that crews have finished the roof of the new underground garage, they will start construction on Cascade Campus’ new student center.

Pacificmark Construction is taking the lead on the other building, a new student center. Construction is slated to start later this summer.

Project logistics and material deliveries have been tricky throughout the project. In order to reduce possibly disruptions and traffic congestion for the surrounding neighborhoods and campus users, PCC and the general contractor have worked hard to contain all construction materials and large equipment within the fenced area.  As the fenced site does not provide sufficient space for staging construction materials, the crew has relied on “just-in-time” deliveries throughout construction.

PCC’s 2008 voter-approved $374 million bond program is increasing opportunities for residents to access quality, affordable higher education close to where they live and work. Additional classrooms, updated equipment and technology, and advanced workforce training programs are helping to pave the way for future employment options.
