Illumination Project is currently recruiting students

Photos and story by

The Illumination Project is now accepting applications from students who are interested in becoming educators for the 2013-2014 academic year. Do you know any students who are interested in peer education around social issues? We are looking for responsible and open-minded individuals who work well in a group. No previous experience necessary.

Students get 12 (four per term) tuition free sociology credits for participating. The credits meet general education and diversity requirements and are college transferable. Applications are due by Monday, Aug. 19.

The Illumination Project is a yearlong student leadership and peer education program based on the Sylvania Campus. The program is designed to address social inequities including racism, sexism, classism and heterosexism through interactive theater performances. The project is part of the Sylvania Women’s Resource Center is also supported through the Sylvania Multicultural Center, Sociology Program and Theater Arts Department.

Information sessions about this opportunity will be held in Room 204, Library, Sylvania:

  • 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Aug. 8.
  • 3-4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 12.
  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13

I am an open minded student and interested in joining in illumination projects. I am sure not to be able to attend “Information sessions” that are to be provided, for I plan to be back to the States in September (first week),2013. What should I do?
Thank you.
