PCC board welcomes Ken Madden, extends terms of chair, vice chair

Denise Frisbee is returning to the PCC Board of Directors to once again serve as its chair for the 2013-2014.
At the latest board meeting held on Wednesday, July 17 at the Downtown Center, Frisbee was sworn in for another term as the board’s chair. Frisbee, who served in that capacity last year, was first elected in 2005 to lead Zone 1 (Lake Oswego) and subsequently was re-elected in 2009. Now retired, she was an attorney and director for the Department of Planning and Building Services for the City of Lake Oswego. A member of the Oregon State Bar since 1976, Frisbee acted as board liaison for PCC’s 2008 bond campaign.
Serving as vice chair will be Deanna Palm, who represents Zone 7 (Washington County). Palm was appointed to the PCC Board in 2009 and then elected in 2011. A former PCC student in the early 1980s, the lifetime Washington County resident has been president of the Greater Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce since 2001.
Finally, Ken Madden was sworn in as its newest member, representing Zone 5 (Beaverton and Southwest Portland). Madden is the owner of Madden Industrial Craftsman and Madden Fabrication in Beaverton. He previously served on the PCC Foundation board since 2003 and was recently elected chair of the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce.
The PCC Board of Directors consist of seven members elected by zones to four-year terms. The board members govern the college which includes selecting the president, approving the hiring of other staff and faculty, approving the college budget and establishing policies that govern the operation of the college.
