A British invasion?
Photos and story by Kate Chester
Only five days into his new gig as president of Portland Community College, and Jeremy Brown – a native of Manchester, England – made time to participate in Portland’s annual Safeway Blues Fest at Waterfront Park, where he introduced fellow Brit, the legendary Eric Burdon, to thousands of festival attendees.
Originally from Newcastle, England, Burdon is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and considered “one of the 100 greatest voices of all time” by Rolling Stone Magazine.
The Blues Fest, which ran from July 3 through July 6, is owned and operated by Oregon Food Bank, a nonprofit hunger-relief organization. All gate donations and proceeds from ticket and pass sales directly benefit Oregon Food Bank’s work to eliminate hunger.
